Miki has been
studying voice for over ten years now. It wasn't until 2006, she was introduced
to the talented Linda Tomkinson and began commuting to Salt Lake City, UT to
study the world renown technique, Speech Level Singingtm. She fell in love with the
method after spending years of uncertainty with her own voice, she was able to
gain confidence and get the strength in projecting that she always wanted. She
immediately became interested in teaching the method to others and studied
exclusively under Tomkinson. In the midst of growing as a vocal instructor Miki
studied other instruments such as piano and guitar, and quickly began writing
her own music.
She joined the
American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers Union to further pursue
her own songwriting career and joined writing forces with John-Mark Seltzer,
Producer and Songwriter for EMI/Stealth Entertainment. She also professionally
recorded several of her own songs under Seltzer, Scott McKay Gibson and Jon
Maddux. She enrolled in Berklee College of Music and went on to graduate
with her Master’s in Songwriting at Berklee.
Miki has also
gained recognition for placing some of her Pop songs as a finalist in Songdoor
and Show Me the Music World Wide contests against thousands of other
competitors. She is currently a part of Southern Utah Writers Association. She
enjoys teaching voice and bringing her own songwriting experience to students
that are aspiring artists as well. Miki continues her own education as a
teacher under countless Speech Level Singingtm Instructors regularly because even as a teacher
it's important to continue learning!
